The most and perhaps only relevant import from the ancient dharmic texts is the (still revolutionary ) insight into the nature of the mind, the human condition, suffering and the quest for wellbeing. Personally, I feel much of the ancient texts and civilization state mumbo-jumbo is abstract philosophy. Very few actionable insights come from people who claim that recognizing the foundations of Indian Civilization and rebuilding the State around those foundations (instead of imitating the Western liberal democracies) is just what's missing in a bid to propel India's prosperity.

Indians couldn't possibly be that fundamentally different from other people, that need vividly different mechanisms rather than the robust and liberal institutions that every other prosperous country has (relatively speaking). Barring a few policy tweaks here and there, I fail to see how a fundamental rethink along these grounds matter for the average Indian.

So yes, I vehemently agree with RSJ here.
