The excerpts from the book are quite interesting. I am wondering, why the states have not upgraded their police force given their knowledge of the potential internal security challenges.
If you were a median politician today, would you put energy in building a capable police force that could potentially threaten you?
We discussed this in the episode with the editors on Puliyabaazi as well. Saurabh's intuition was that balancing caste equations might have something to do with the fact that even the sanctioned positions are not filled up. Check our what Devesh and Amit had to say to this. I don't remember well.
Agree that police force could be a threat. But some other states seem to have made relative progress on this front. There is definitely the factor of funds too.
