I’ve been thinking about the idea that "Indian states are more than just domestic actors- they also function as geopolitical and geoeconomic players". I wasn’t aware until recently that there's actually a term for this: paradiplomacy.
I believe state-specific diaspora communities can also play a significant role in advancing paradiplomacy. Their unique ties, local knowledge, and emotional investment can help forge meaningful international collaborations at the state level.
Great insight. Came to know about paradiplomacy and creative insecure. I am reminded of Sputnik days when US felt the latter and turned the tide in its favour. Thank you.
On start ups, this is an oversimplified view of the Minister's perspective. He is spot on when he says that Indian consumer value chain is just one of the many problems that require tech. Shallow Tech!! The real hard problems of India that requires heavy lifting with the coming together of the best talent in CS and math are unaddressed but for a very few valiant efforts.
Get to the crux- we are yet to find the collective capacities to address deep tech.
agree. But it was bad form to make this point at an event the govt had organised for startups. Nevertheless, all's good if it leads to another introspection from all elements of the ecosystem. It's good that we are debating this rather than issues that take us back into the past.

Thank you for walking us through the options and providing more context on each one, as to how we can respond to Trump's tariffs.
I also hope more states can follow Tamil Nadu's example by inviting foreign companies to establish a presence in India.
This is an interesting case of states playing an unconventional role in foreign policy https://www.thinkpragati.com/opinion/1826/israel-states-india/

@RSJ, please don't belittle Dada Kondke, by comparing him to Donald Trump.
