Bike-taxis are prone to accidents, as bikes do. They are open and the customer is like a pillion-rider. Feel they have no safety in high-trafficked cities.
1. Why do cars and motorbikes need different license plates and safety standards depending on whether they are used for private purpose or public purpose? A car or motorcycle is safe or unsafe to be on the roads irrespective of whether the passenger is paying money or not.
2. As you pointed out, government does not lose revenue. If the person pays income tax, he will show this as income. Rapido will pay corporate taxes.
3. As for government's concern on citizen's safety, less said the better.
Really sad that the government intervenes in markets. Consumers voted with their wallets for the service and as you said the government should have facilitated this.
Is there any chance of appealing against this and reinstating this?
Raghu has anticipated the unintended consequence quite clearly. Inconvenience to the consumer is incentive for the politician.

I agree, a very illogical decision.

Thank you.
