Adding to the point no. 3 about other platforms, there has been ample and more evidence of Tik Tok censoring discussions about T square, HK demo and U muslims being discussed on Tik tok by Non Chinese citizens. There was also the case about an Indian Tik Tok celeb thrashing China on her Tik Tok page and later her account was suspended. There isn’t a black and white in these cases but any proof of a state interference / pressure is a reason enough to view apps like these with abandon caution. It is a totally separate discussion from the one that touches on Tik Tok democratising content creation. These two points cannot be merged.
